A few tips if it seems like you are just getting thrown into this:

1. Like I said, pick up a pamphlet before the game so you can know everyone names and jersey numbers.

2. Take notes during each quarter, maybe even noting pre-game environment. While taking notes, think of how they will translate into your story.

3. Be fast after the game to get your interviews. Its best to get players as they walk off the field. As a last effort you can wait until they come out of the locker room.

4. Begin writing on Saturday so the information and any possible story lines are still fresh in your head.

5. Keep in mind that this article will not be printed and we are the only ones to see it. Be free with you're writing because it tends to be more interesting that way.
