Strong Winter
Acalanes Boys Soccer starts season well
The dons started their season with the Winter Classic Tournament. In their first game, the dons shut out Heritage 4-0. Seniors Sasha Chalak and Peter Jernigan, junior Chris Conrad and Freshman Dylan Autran each scored. Chalak, as well as Junior David Kloth had assists. The teams to goalies’ had a combined six saves, David Spittler with 4 and Scott Macarthur with 2.
The Don’s played a tough defensive battle against College Park; the game ended in a tie. The meeting with College Park left Acalanes with a 1-1-0 record at the Winter Classic. The Don’s lost in the following game to Mission San Jose, and found themselves with one win, one loss and one tie—A record that clearly made their future in the tournament unclear.
Any doubt was eradicated with the Acalanes victory over Mt. Eden. The game was very important win for the Dons.
“In our loss at the tournament, we didn’t play as well as we had hoped, so we were happy to turn it around and win the last game” said senior captain Rueben Komissar. The dons are optimistic coming out of the tournament 2-1-1. “It is really good that we got a win because now we can feel good about going into league.”
Acalanes faces off against Los Lomas at home in the first league game of the season.
